Character Education Through Scouting
Local scout troops provide prevention
education during meetings.
DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Long Beach Island Police provide drug and alcohol prevention programs in elementary school, middle school and high school forums.
Project Graduation Alcohol, tobacco and other drug-free graduation celebration for local high school students.
Intergenerational Club Program includes seniors, children and school leaders interacting in alcohol prevention and alternative activities.
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Awareness & Education Education to prospective parents on the dangers of alcohol and tobacco use during pregnancy. The Alliance participates in April Showers, a free program for parents, parents-to-be and those thinking of becoming parents and Healthy Choices, a program for 7th, 8th and 9th grade girls and their mothers which focuses on making healthy life choices and provides information on FAS.
Tobacco Use Prevention Education to groups of all ages on the harmful effects of smoking and secondhand smoke.
Girl and Boy Power Program provides individual and group prevention education to pre-teens, adolescents and young adults, on health issues, including ATOD, stress, self-esteem and body image, and home alone safety.
Forest Friends Puppet presentation developed to educate young children on life skills and decision making tasks.
Wellness Programs Project Healthy Bones, a program for men and women at risk for osteoporosis, includes substance abuse prevention education.
Annual Health Department Walk, held every spring, this event encourages physical activity and socialization, and includes substance abuse prevention information.

Families receive alcohol, drug and tobacco
information while on surf fishing trip.
Family Movie Night w/PSA
Families interact with school personnel in a social setting, viewing resources on alcohol, tobacco and drug related subject matter.
Preschool Power Program provides age appropriate information to children ages 3-5 on a variety of health issues including ATOD, self esteem, character, and violence prevention.
Good at Any Age
Interactive program encourages older adults to recognize unhealthy behaviors and adopt healthier lifestyles. Twice monthly sessions integrate substance abuse prevention into an overall program of disease prevention and health promotion and includes topics such as nutrition, sleep, memory, medications, home safety, and fraud.
Shore Health Quarterly newsletter for LBI residents provides prevention education on ATOD and other health issues, as well as information on LBIHD and LBIMA programs and activities. Newsletters are available at town halls, libraries, community centers, and schools.
