Southern Ocean County held its fourth annual Pregnant Pause, Healthy Families, Healthy Babies, at Southern Regional High School on
Saturday, November 22, 2003.
The celebration, which raises awareness of the importance of alcohol and smoke-free pregnancies through promotion of non-alcoholic alternatives in a fun filled environment, was attended by 40 people.
The program included lectures by Dr. Joseph Miller (Obstetrician/Gynecologist at SOCH), Understanding Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Effects of Tobacco and Jeannie Hines, Raising a Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Child.
"Mixologists" from Pine Bay Liquors, Sea Oaks Country Club, Carrolls/Cranberry Bog, Creevys and Applebees competed for cash prizes in a contest to create the best non-alcoholic drinks in Ocean County. Participants served as judges, and prizes were awarded to the teams that create the winning drinks.
