About Us

In 1989, the Governor of New Jersey signed into law P.L., Ch 51, that established the Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. The purpose of the Alliance is to create a network, comprised of all the communities in New Jersey, which is dedicated to a comprehensive and coordinated effort against alcoholism and drug abuse.

The Long Beach Island Municipal Alliance is established by the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. Legislature provided funds support municipality-based alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse education and public awareness activities. Membership may include representatives from police departments, schools, civic associations, community organizations and business groups from participating communities.

The goal of the Long Beach Island Municipal Alliance is to work with and support organizations and agencies who provide education and awareness of drug, alcohol and tobacco abuse.
